My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius

Lagunitas MAXIMUS

Today we review MAXIMUS, a potent IPA from one of our house's favorite breweries. They have been making quite a big splash on the national beer scene, but we are so hip we've been drinking it ever since we were of drinking age. This beer boasts bold flavors and wonderful craftsmanship, we can't wait to guide you towards a great sudsy experience. Oh by the way, our house's favorite show, The Voice, is back on the air tomorrow night. Being the biggest fans has its perks as we were able to get Cee Lo Green's cat Purrrfect the Cat to help us out. Here we go!

Appearance
Dan: Like what pumpkin juice would look like. Ahh the changing seasons.
Purrrfect the Cat: WUT IZ CULORZ?!?
Julia: Grade B syrup.
Noah: Brown muddled with orange, a very pleasant fall color.

Smell
Dan: Light and sweet.
Purrrfect the Cat: TERIYAKI SALMON MEOW MIX!!
Julia: Grizzly bear.
Noah: Sweet and light.

Taste
Dan: Beer to the max. Better once it's been in the air, more rounded.
Purrrfect the Cat: THIS NO FANCY FEAST!!
Julia:
Noah: Sweet, but intense.

Overall
Dan: Good sipper.
Purrrfect the Cat: LITTER BOX POUR!
Julia: Burpppp.
Noah: Packs quite a punch.

Crunkability: 8.2%/$10.50=0.78095238

As the seasons change, this IPA is a great cozy beer that we can safely say brings smiles to our faces. It makes me think of crunching leaves, sweaters, and brisk mornings. I highly recommend this and almost all Lagunitas brews if you desire bold flavors. Enjoy!

Organic Produce? Friend or Aquaitance Who You Really Don't Need to Bother Getting to Know????

The FOOD JUSTICE world is buzzing about a new Stanford article that recently reported "fruits and vegetables labeled organic were, on average, no more nutritious than their conventional counterparts." The study did find however, that organic food contained fewer pesticides.

I don't know why anyone is surprised by these findings. Anyways, it is a good excuse to post a wonderful list of foods you should always buy organically:

1. Apples
2. Celery
3. Bell peppers
4. Peaches
5. Strawberries
6. Nectarines
7. Grapes
8. Spinach
9. Lettuce
10. Cucumbers

These you don't have to worry as much about: (hint a lot of them have peels)

1. Onions
2. Sweet Corn
3. Pineapples
4. Avocado
5. Cabbage
6. Sweet peas
7. Asparagus
8. Mangoes
9. Eggplant
10. Kiwi
11. Cantaloupe
12. Sweet potatoes
13. Grapefruit
14. Watermelon
15. Mushrooms

Beer of the Week; PARTY WAAAAVVVVEEEEE EDITION

Welcome to Beer of the Week. This week we will be reviewing Hitachino Nest Real Ginger Brew, made by Kiuchi Brewery. This beer is brewed in Japan using raw ginger during the fermentation process, how weird! Lot of reviewers in the line up this week, hope no one gets snaked!!!

Disclaimer: this is an actual beer. If you are interested in what I suppose should be called ginger wine I found this online recipe.

Appearance

Dan: Caramel
Noah: Red stained mahogany
Gabe: Red mahogany
Clarissa: Weirdly dark mahogany colored cider

Leah: Beer
Julia: I CANNOT FOLLOW DIRECTIONS
Ben: Like that tape bugs get stuck to

Smell

Dan: Miso soup
Noah: Ginger (how original Noah*)
Gabe: d00d sweet nectar of Christ

Clarissa: Like beer
Leah: Gingery beer
Julia: Gingery nail Polish remover
Ben: Ginger sukiyaki sauce

Taste

Dan: Light, gingery, syrupy? Rounded, but maybe lacking something to grab my attention.
Noah: Sweetest beer I've ever tasted. Quite smooth though.
Gabe: It is more like beer with ginger than ginger beer.
Clarissa: Tastes nothing like ginger!
Leah: Drain pour
Julia: Honeyish, but also leaves a cigarette flavor in the back of my mouth.
Ben: Tastes like beer foam with a ginger cough drop.

Overall

Dan: I like this beer, it is quite unique. Due to the cost I'm not sure I will ever seek it out.
Noah: Too sweet too expensive.
Gabe: Interesting, but not necessarily good.
Clarissa: Biggest disappointment of my life.
Leah: No comment at first, then just sort of copies Clarissa.
Julia: I LOVE IT!
Ben: I'M SO EXCITED FOR THE VOICE IM GOING TO BUY THIS FOR EVERY EPISODE.

Due to the incredible high cost of this beer this is our lowest krunability ever :P
$42/8 = 5.25 krunkability
